So much for religious tolerance. The LDS or Mormons, got used like an ugly chick for their money during the Proposition 8 issue. $25 million dollars and their grassroots efforts were very good for the “Chrisitians”. Glenn Beck, a mormon, came out with a book and was interviewed by Focus on the Family. Focus seems to have gotten a lot of crap for having that on their website and pulled the interview off the site. They are now getting flack for doing that and they have come out with a statement:

We can, and do, gladly cooperate with friends outside of the evangelical heritage on common causes; but in no case do we intend to alter our clear distinction as unwaveringly grounded in evangelical theology.

Glenn Beck has this to say:

Whatever your beliefs about my religion, the concept of religious tolerance is too important to be sacrificed in response to pressure from special interest groups, especially when it means bowing to censorship. At a time when the world is so full of fear, despair, and divisions, it is my hope that all of those who believe in a loving and peaceful God would stand together on the universal message of hope and forgiveness.

The issue is the following: Many Christians view the L.D.S as a cult, but others are starting to accept them as another religion – some going as far as calling Mormonism a fourth Abrahamic religion. They reject the Trinity and believe in many gods, and most importantly they believe their prophet, Joseph Smith, was “the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam,” according to the Mormons’ History of the Church.

Formally listed under “cults and sects” by the Southern Baptist Convention, Mormonism was later categorized among “newly developed religions” on the North American Mission Board apologetics page.

There are differences in the beliefs, very strong and very different. With the difference stated, and with Focus on the Family pulling the interview, making it perfectly clear that they view the L.D.S, or Mormonism, as a false religion, why accept their money? Does this mean that if a Satanic group were to donate money to the Christians about a cause, would those funds be accepted? That question is a resonable one because this is exactly what they just did, since they consider the L.D.S a false religion.

I see several issues here: Judging. Hypocrisy. Greed. Would I have expected any less from a “Christian” like James Dobson? No. So, Glenn, your money was good. Your products, you and your religious faith, are not good.

If you truly believe in the Bible and you wouldn’t just grab on to bits and pieces, then maybe you would have followed the advice found in 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Unequally Yoked” and you wouldn’t seem like the users that you are.

The Christian Post has an opinion piece titled: Thug Politics, by Chuck Colson, one of the guys that signed the Mob Veto ad in the New York Times. In essence this is his stance:

Despite our fundamental disagreements with one another . . . we will stand shoulder to shoulder to defend any house of worship—Jewish, Christian, Hindu, whatever—from violence, regardless of the cause that violence seeks to serve. We also are committed to exposing and publicly shaming anyone who resorts to the rhetoric of anti-religious bigotry against any faith, on any side of any cause, for any reason. I hope others will join us—especially those who claim to support civil rights. Will they condemn the attacks, will they remain silent, or—ugliest of all—will they excuse the violence?

Why are we thugs? This is his description of the incident:

It began with shouts—foul and violent verbal attacks. Then the assaults became physical. Rioters threw hot coffee on people and began shoving them. One thug yanked a cross out of a woman’s arms and stomped on it. Another grabbed a woman’s Bible, struck her on the head with it, knocked her to the ground, and kicked her. Others engaged in sexual exhibitionism.

One incident can be found here. The lady with the cross is this one: They were two seperate incidents. None of which either showed, or described the “engaged in sexual exhibitionism”.

I am not advocating that what was done was okay. I don’t agree with violence. I feel actions like these set us back instead of progressing us, but I find the “Christians” grabbing onto this and adding more to make it seem worst, “thuggish”. For years the Christians have persecuted us. They were showing up at the same-sex ceremonies that were held in public with their signs. They have shown up at our prides with their signs. They have shown up at the funerals of victims of hate crimes with their signs, and I really don’t need to tell you what they say. They are hurtful, in the name of God. They are disrespectful, in the name of God. On forums that are labeled for us, they show up, preaching hate in the name of God.

Do I need to go into details about the abortion clinic bombings they have done, in the name of God? The people they have killed, in the name of God? How about in the past when they have tried to convert people, like the Indians, in the name of God. The witch hunts that were done, in the name of God.

When they are asked about these incidents, the response that comes up, “GOD”. They have done it for God and they don’t ask for forgiveness or admit to being wrong.

As people that believe in God and feel that our sin is a condemnation to hell, they should realize that the sin of LYING is just as bad in the eyes of God. Like they repeatedly say, A SIN, IS A SIN.

Someone who read the Christian Post piece, mentioned this reminded her of the Reichstag fire in Germany, the one key incident that helped raise Adolf Hitler to power. She also mentioned there are several similarities and pointed out some interesting facts about Mr Colson’s history…

She reminded me that Chuck Colson found God just before serving time in a Federal Pen for activities related to his assisting in the cover up of the Watergate break in and for having attempted to smear Pentagon Papers defendant Daniel Ellsberg and thus damage Ellesburgs chances for a fair trial.

You see it was Mr. Colson and John Ehrlichman who organized the White House Special Operations Unit, the so-called “Plumbers” during his tenure as Richard Nixon’s White House Counsel and it was Colson who appointed E. Howard Hunt to lead it. She also reminded me that this unit had been put together as a dirty tricks squad to stop leaks in the Nixon administration and spy on the Democrats.

One of this units most infamous acts was the ‘Plumbers’ burglary of Pentagon Papers-leaker Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist’s office in September 1971. The Pentagon Papers were military documents about the Vietnam War which helped increase opposition to the war. Colson hoped that revelations about Ellsberg could be used to discredit the anti-Vietnam War cause.

This along with The “Plumbers” other nefarious activities all came to light after they were caught breaking into the Democratic National Headquarters at the Watergate office complex.

As Colson was facing arrest for his Watergate activities he became an evangelical Christian. However, his conversion did not prevent him from taking the Fifth Amendment in front of the judge on the advice of his lawyers and when news of the conversion emerged, several U.S. newspapers, as well as Newsweek, The Village Voice, and Time, ridiculed the conversion, claiming that it was a ploy to reduce his sentence.

Later however in a deal with prosecutors, Colson admitted only to leaking information from Ellsberg’s confidential FBI file to the press, and denied organizing Hunt’s burglary of Ellsberg’s office, and was sent to prison for obstruction of justice after being sentenced to a one to three-year sentence and fined $5,000. Colson only had to serve 7 months of that sentence.

There are certain characteristics that are very hard for some people to change and false information campaigns are nothing new to this man… So that makes one wonder were the protesters in the video even real thug gays at all or just new versions of Mr. Colson’s “Plumbers”?

Hitler too claimed he was influenced by Christianity and claimed he did what he did, in the name of God. He was also not adverse to using lies and mis-information to achieve his agenda of hate.

During the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials held after the Nazis were defeated, General Franz Halder stated in an affidavit that one of Hitlers favorite “Plumbers”, Hermann Goering had joked…

On the occasion of a lunch on the Führer’s birthday in 1942, the people around the Führer turned the conversation to the Reichstag building and its artistic value. I heard with my own ears how Göring broke into the conversation and shouted: ‘The only one who really knows about the Reichstag building is I, for I set fire to it.’ And saying this he slapped his thigh.

The Jews were not the only ones in those death camps, there were homosexuals there as well. The history of Hitler is proof that mixing religion with politics causes major conflicts, not only within religion itself, but with the government and its people.

Colson has always done what he thinks will work to further his cause as well and like the Nazis, truth for Colson has been what he wanted to make it appear to be…

The only thing that I can say in regards to this though, the Christians have had a strong hold on this Nation for a long time, but that hold is slowly slipping. Not only with the “gay agenda” as they like to state it, but with others that are starting to see them for who they really are: power hungry men trying to control the lives of everyone.

Oh and one more thing, someone please let them know, according to John 8:44, the father of liars is Satan.
