{January 13, 2009}   “What Would Jesus Do?”

If Jesus were to come down and roam the earth, he would certainly be criticized, judged or both, by those that profess to follow Him. Here is a guy that is putting his money where his mouth is and he got criticized for two things that he had said in his interview: voting for Obama and having a swig of beer. Let’s read one CHRISTIAN COMMENT:

I don’t know anything about this man….But to say that Obama comes close to the teachings of Jesus is blasphemy. Not only is Obama pro-abortion. He wants to extend the so-called right to murder more babies. Add to that he wants us to pay for abortions over seas. I can guarantee you Jesus wouldn’t teach that. I can see Jesus preaching “We Need FOCA!” This Ed loses all creditability….The irony is that these aborted babies won’t have the chance to vote for economic issues that Ed probably took in to consideration when he voted for Obama

One Cornerstone professor said he wished Dobson had not made his vote public, arguing it was not germane to the Jesus lifestyle. “Given Obama’s voting on abortion, those are some very un-Jesus-like votes,” said theologian Michael Wittmer, author of “Don’t Stop Believing: Why Living Like Jesus Is Not Enough.” Apparently, not being honest is a lot more like Jesus.

Dobson has taken a year long challenge on top of a lifelong study and individuals are criticizing him and some are even stating he lost credibility. Who are they and what is their standing to do such a thing? Dobson’s challenge should cause many to think deeper and is critical to help those that believe in Jesus and profess to follow Him to think about what Jesus would do for people from birth to death. He has had a life long journey to find both rationality and God, through Jesus. His life and committment should bestow respect, even from those that don’t agree with his comments or the decisions he made during this challenge. I can guarantee you that he has shunned the light to unbelievers more than anyone other than Jesus himself.

Isn’t it amazing how Christians cannot get along with None Christians and can’t even get along with other Christians?
Here, from your own Bible:

Matthew 7:1-5: 1Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Christians should tattoo this text on their forearms so they can be reminded every time they feel compelled to JUDGE or CRITICIZE.
