NPR is reporting that the Vatican is worried about the President-elect’s positions on what Catholics call “life issues.” One of their first concerns was stated less than a week after the elections. The Vatican’s top health official, Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, warned the President-elect that it’s unethical to give the green light to embryonic stem-cell research. Cardinal James Francis Stafford, head of a Vatican court said in a speech at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. that Obama’s statements on abortion reflect “an agenda and vision that are aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic.” A senior Vatican official told Time Magazine that if Obama signs a proposed Freedom of Choice Act which would invalidate any state laws that place restrictions on abortions then that ”would be the equivalent of a war.” Last month, the Vatican issued a wide-ranging document on bioethics that forcefully condemned not only embryonic stem-cell research, but also artificial fertilization, and it declared that the morning-after pill falls within the “sin of abortion.” Within that same month the Vatican opposed the United Nations declarations against discrimination of homosexuals and for the rights of the disabled on the grounds that they could be seen as sanctioning gay marriage and abortion. 

My question is, why don’t they concentrate on their own flock? The flock that chooses to follow them and believe in them? I mean, do they really think that they have any credibility after this:

Sex crimes & the Vatican a BBC documentary has it all exposed. This problem has not gone away, they have tried to cover it up and they have moved the priests involved to different areas, but the problem still has not been handled. They do not help in extradition of priests and they absolutely do not cooperate with the law. Let’s see how and who started this tight secrecy.

Before the ‘Holy See’ became Pope Benedict he was Cardinal Joseph Alois Ratzinger and as Cardinal “in 2001 he allegedly issued a secret Vatican edict to Catholic bishops worldwide. The document recommended that rather than reporting sexual abuse to the relevant legal authorities, bishops should encourage the victim, the witnesses and the perpetrator not to talk about the abuse. Was this done to help the victims and minimize future abuses or was it done in the self interest of those responsible for these grievous sins?” 

That is right, the Holy See doesn’t seem to be worried about his priests and the children revolved around the Catholic church but will hammer down the homosexuals, whom are two consenting adults loving each other. You see, the Roman Catholic Church has an unwritten rule: when pedophile priests are identified, the concern is not for the child victims, but how to cover-up the abuse and protect the ‘reputation’ of the church. If that means further abusing and intimidating the children to keep them quiet, which it does, then so be it. When these children are adults and speak up, they throw money their way. They have a budget set aside for such scandals, we are not talking about one million dollars, in 1996 alone the budget was set at $7 million dollars. The priests are still allowed the benefits of priestly duties and compensations as such.

In 1962 the church had a decree drawn up titled: Crimen Sollicitationis (Crimes of Solicitations). This document is for control and containing of the problem and not any help towards the children that were abused. The interesting thing about this decree is that it was drawn up by the then Cardinal Ratzinger and it specifically states that all allegations or known confessions of such abuse by priests are to be sent up to the Vatican, and now, guess who is the pope up there? The Cardinal himself, or Pope Benedict. So, the decree that he drew and sent out to all of the priests is now handled by him exclusively. He has control of all the allegations and he is in charge of handling the situations, which is how he drew the decree, to keep the abuse tightly quiet, so as not to ruin the reputation of the Roman Catholic Church, which is the main concern, protection of the church and forget the children. It is also interesting to note that this situation, the sexual abuse of minors by the men of cloth, is an endemic situation.

So, Holy See, why don’t you worry about cleaning your own house, instead of worrying what President Obama and his new administration will bring. Why don’t you start turning in those 7 priests that are hiding up in the Vatican? Send them back to the U.S where the courts are waiting for them. Put your money where your mouth is and destroy that decree and start admonishing that you will be supportive of the authorities and that you will not allow such conduct.
