{March 3, 2009}   The Saga Continues

I had posted about a christian student that was suing his college. Well, the saga continues:

Los Angeles City College had half a dozen middle-aged people milling around the campus quad. “God Hates Gays,” their signs read. Nice way to represent Jesus, right? I mean when Jesus was here on earth, he preached “HATRED” and walked around with signs to preach the word.

The suit, filed Feb. 12, has inspired a wave of blog and media commentary. Lopez’s lawyer from the Alliance Defense Fund, co-founded by James Dobson of Focus on the Family, has appeared on the popular Fox News show “The O’Reilly Factor.”

A dozen nasty e-mails winged their way to a Pulitzer Prize-winning New York biographer, who had the singular misfortune of sharing a name and occupation with Lopez’s instructor.

“Some of them threatened my life,” said the New York-based John Matteson, an associate professor of English at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Leave it to the Christians to react in that way. They profess to follow Jesus, but their actions are from Christ like. Threatening and preaching hate…

{February 20, 2009}   Senator Chris Buttars

Ah, a faithful mormon preaching what his God teaches him to preach.

And what was the response of this mormon?

Buttars declined to comment to The Associated Press, but said Friday he would not be issuing an apology.

In a statement released on the Senate Republicans’ blog, Buttars wrote that he will continue to defend traditional marriage.

“I was disappointed to learn of the Utah State Senates censure on February 20, 2009. However, this action will not discourage me from defending marriage from an increasingly vocal and radical segment of the homosexual community.

In recent years, registering opposition to the homosexual agenda has become almost impossible. Political correctness has replaced open and energetic debate. Those who dare to disagree with the homosexual agenda are labeled “haters” and “bigots,” and are censured by their peers.

The media contributes to the problem. Increasingly, individuals with conservative beliefs are targeted by a left leaning media that uses their position of public trust as a bully pulpit. This pattern of intimidation suppresses free speech.

For the record, I do not agree with the censure. I see it as an attempt to shy away from controversy. In particular, I disagree with my removal as Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, since my work there is entirely unrelated to my opposition to the homosexual agenda.

Still, I’m a grown man and I can take my knocks. When it comes right down to it, I would rather be censured for doing what I think is right, than be honored by my colleagues for bowing to the pressure of a special interest group that has been allowed to act with impunity.

Thanks to the many citizens who have written and called to express their support. Please know that I’ll live through this to fight another day. In years to come, we’ll all look back at this point in history and see it as a crossroads. I have no intention of resigning.”

What an appropriate way to demonstrate what your God teaches you, right? I mean, Jesus was about what he said in regards to racisim and homosexuality.
What is interesting is the response by the LDS:

“From the outset, the Church’s position has always been to engage in civil and respectful dialogue on this issue. Senator Buttars does not speak for the Church.”

{February 20, 2009}   The Call: To Fast

A 40-day fast.

I want to know who are the tens of thousands of people that follow this man? Seriously, look at his body language, something is mentally wrong with this man. Lou Engle.

Fasting means starvation which equals HALLUCINATIONS…not God talking to you.

{February 19, 2009}   Suicide committed in Mega-Church

usa-la-crystal-cathedral-exterior-by-darrell-godliman76 year old church volunteer was explaining the church’s suicide hotline with six people, including a tourist group from Canada. “We were talking actually about the suicide prevention hotline that we have here at our church and telling them it’s open 24 hours, seven days a week, and then just then, I heard this pop”.

Meanwhile, an 84 year old church volunteer welcomes this man that hands her a note and his driver’s license. The note stated his pick-up was in the parking lot. He walked up to a gold cross and knelt as if to pray and shot himself. What did the pastor have to say?

“He did not give any sign that he was going to do that. He just came, like any other tourist, to pray,” said pastor Juan Carlos Ortiz. “I think God will have mercy on him, because he must have been very desperate to do what he did.”

The Orange County coroner’s office identified the man as Steve Smick, 48.

“I think God will have mercy on him”? Seriously? To make a statement like that for his family to read is just callous, but what else do you expect from some “Christians”. I just can’t help but wonder, going to the house of God, wouldn’t something happen from God Himself to let others know that His house was going to be used for that?

The Crystal Cathedral had been a witness to another tragedy:

{February 11, 2009}   The Gay Agenda

Apprently the “gay agenda” is to silence the christians. Why am I always the last to find out what the agenda is? Someone needs to stay ontop of letting all the homosexuals know what the movement is, seriously. The one-hour  ‘special report’ starts as a look at how a group of Christian demonstrators were arrested for, as they tell it, trying to “share the Gospel,” but almost immediately focuses on gay and lesbian Americans’ struggle for equality under the law.

“Special classes of people get special protections”

Here we go, trying to scare the heteros against the homos. Very Christ like, right?  This ‘special report’ is based on the same book that Sally Kern declared helped her find out what the “gay agenda” is. It’s a 1989 book called “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s,” by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen. The video was produced by the American Family Association, and includes testimony from individuals who claim that they were once homosexual but were “cured” through prayer.

Who pushes this “gay agenda” more, the Christians or the ‘homosexuals’? The way the Christians go around bringing light to this agenda makes them the ones that push the issue. The “gay agenda” is nothing more than a scary term started by the religious zealots to scare their flock into hating a minor class of citizens.

Homosexuals are not asking for “special” treatment, they are asking for equality. Special treatment would be: no paying of taxes, not going to work and collecting disability, etc.

I think I am going to have to read that book, and maybe let my other “homosexual” friends know what the book is about, see? Thanks to the religious people, I myself am going to find out what this “gay agenda” is…

The conservative Christian group Focus on the Family claim that,

It is an agenda that they basically set in the late 1980s, in a book called ‘After the Ball,’ where they laid out a six-point plan for how they could transform the beliefs of ordinary Americans with regard to homosexual behavior — in a decade-long time frame…. They admit it privately, but they will not say that publicly. In their private publications, homosexual activists make it very clear that there is an agenda. The six-point agenda that they laid out in 1989 was explicit: Talk about gays and gayness as loudly and as often as possible… Portray gays as victims, not as aggressive challengers… Give homosexual protectors a just cause… Make gays look good… Make the victimizers look bad… Get funds from corporate America..CitizenLink.

It seems like Sally didn’t catch any flack from what she said last year. The Okgazette.com is reporting that Sally found the GAY AGENDA!

She said that she found the GAY AGENDA in a book, “After the Ball”, by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen. Apparently, according to the article, the GAY AGENDA is that gays would like to be accepted by society to the point of becoming a superior lifestyle. She then called for a “Great Awkening”, a spirtual revival.

I was wondering why this woman is so ANTI-homosexuals and this “gay agenda” she keeps referring to. So, looking around the internet I found this: Jesse Kern is her son that attended Oklahoma Baptist University, rumor is, he is gay. I also found this: Jesse Kern denise he is gay, but states he is celibate. He kinda sounds like Ted Haggard.

Well, there is something that is pushing this woman to really hate the gays, and I don’t think it is the bible that she is hiding behind.

What I find ironic is that this morning, someone left me a comment: “Christians are not your enemy. Heterosexuals are not your enemy”, in another post. Now, I have never stated the case for either, but don’t you find it hard to believe the opposite when rehtoric like this is spewed?

Is it ironic that, according to the Christian Post, a new gallup poll found Oklahoma one of the top ten religious states in the U.S.? The site that I found this video had this comment posted:

It happens everywhere to a degree, but it is worse in Oklahoma than almost anywhere else.

Douglas will be by here in a bit to tell you how much better things are, how life in Oklahoma is improving. It’s not. It’s getting worse.

And from experience, I expect it’s going to get a whole lot worse because economic turmoil generally tends to increase hatred and intolerance of difference.

What just shocks me though, and I’ve lived here much of my life, is that this is one of the poorest states, with one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates, one of the highest rates of domestic violence. We have more women incarcerated than any other state, we’ve got more alcoholism, more drug addiction, more divorce and more Bibles per capita than any other state in the lower 48.

So this is benefiting us how? All of this hate and judgment and Bible thumping is improving life here HOW????

It frustrates me to death. Oklahoma had a good, solid progressive history with the Wobblies and the radical farmers of the plains side of the state (where Enid, a cesspool, sits). Woody Guthrie is our favorite son. So what happened to us?

I don’t remember it being this way when I was a kid. I think it got worse with the whole evangelical craziness that took hold in the late ’70s and ’80s. Or maybe it did start earlier. Maybe it started with desegregation, it’s just that I don’t remember attitudes being anywhere near so harsh or divisive when I was younger.

Bottom line: For a lot of reasons, Oklahoma sucks. Unfortunately, Oklahoma’s proud of that and it’s unlikely there will be any changes for the better in the future.

For the record, I didn’t get that this man was necessarily focused on gays, as much as he was calling little punk pierced tattooed kids faggots. That he’d use faggot as a derogatory term is evidence of his thought patterns, but just generally, in this interview, I really thought he was talking less about gays than about the whole body modification thing. And men who wear hats

{January 19, 2009}   Would God Listen To This Prayer?

Joseph Farah

Isn't he one of the Village People?

Isn't he one of the Village People?

This guy wants every follower of God to “Pray Obama Fails”. What a Christian prayer. Instead of asking for everyone to pray to change his heart to that of what Farah feels should be changed, he is praying for him to fail. What spirit is that? Is that one of the Fruit of the Spirits? “Fruit of the Spirit” is a biblical term that sums up the nine visible attributes of a true Christian:

Galatians 5:22-23, these attributes are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance

Praying for someone to fail, isn’t a Spirit that God would approve of or even listen to. That prayer is more for a God that is evil, a prayer to what many describe are the attributes of Satan.

Another example that the bible holds is how Jesus welcomed little children and took them up in his arms. In this he reflected the character of his Father, who welcomes all who seek Him in sincerity and simplicity. Again, asking for someone to fail isn’t a simple request.

What really amuses me is the following: Christians are supposed to trust God, that is the bottom line. According to the scriptures He asks to trust Him, to believe in His Word, to obey His commandments as far as we are able and to look forward to a time in the future when He will intervene in human affairs to establish a society which will be governed by just and fair laws, in which nature itself will ultimately be in harmony with its perfect Creator, but it seems like many Christians forget that or ignore it or disregard that.

Most prayers in the scriptures have “if it be thy will”. Now let’s see: HAVE HIM FAIL IF THAT IS YOUR WILL. No, it wouldn’t be His will, it is asking for something negative, a quality that is not part of His Fruit.

Prayers are something that should be aligned with God’s thinking. The first commandment is to love God; the second to love our neighbor. The second is the consequence of the first and must result in practical concern for the welfare of others. Very simple.

1 Timothy 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone

It is a shame that someone would say they are followers of Christ and honestly, sincerely believes that such a statement: PRAY FOR HIM TO FAIL, is something that is remotely close to God’s quality. Not only are you asking for a human being to fail, but that failure will affect a whole nation. How selfish and hypocritical of Joseph Farah. Truly disgusting.

{January 17, 2009}   A wanna be pastor

Authorities received a tip on animal cruelty. They showed up to the house and found three dead dogs, guns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. His birth name is Earl Simmons, but he is famously known by his stage name: DMX. A very successful rapper.

If you run a search on him you will find the following: In spring of 2001 DMX served 10 days in a New York jail for driving without a license. In 2005 he was sentenced to 70 days in jail for violating conditions of a plea agreement from a 2004 incident at Kennedy Airport… He was arrested twice in one week in May 2008, both in Phoenix: first for speeding, and then on an indictment for felony drug possession and misdemeanor acts of animal cruelty, reportedly involving mistreatment of pit bulls. In 2003 he had stated that he was going to retire to become a pastor and now he is stating the same thing, dressed in pink.

Why is it that those that are in jail suddenly find God? Would it be because they have all the time in the world with nothing to do? Is it because they need to have faith and hope in something?

I just wonder how much credibility this man can have as a pastor. The bible does state that if you repent you shall be forgiven, but how much of that repentance is sincere, is the question. In the interview DMX lied and stated his rap lyrics never talked about killing a person, but the interviewer did his homework and called him out on it. Lies, we know who the father of liars is (John 8:44) according to the bible, you would think a wanna be pastor would know that to.

Oh, in regards to the pink… your in jail, it isn’t Burger King, CAN’T HAVE IT YOUR WAY!

{January 16, 2009}   Are you meek?

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

–adjective, -er, -est.

1. humbly patient or docile, as under provocation from others.
2. overly submissive or compliant; spiritless; tame.
3. Obsoletegentle; kind.

What does this scripture mean? It is safe to deduce that Jesus’ kingdom is for those who are meek. A meek person is gentle/kind, tenderhearted, patient, and submissive/compliant. Those who are meek forgive, restore others, and make peace.

Would a person referring to Rev. Gene Robinson as the “token” homosexual be a meek person? Would a person stating “no one thought he was a reverend”, be a meek person?

The hot topic for this week was the announcement of Rev. Gene Robinson to give the invocation at the inaugural opening ceremony at the Sunday afternoon concert on the Mall. Run a search on the blogs and you will find lots of opinions on him and how people truly feel about him. I just read one, and what the person wrote reminded me of this bible scripture about the “meek”. The funny thing is, Rick Warren, the “mega church” pastor is quoted as praising Obama for selecting Robinson, saying the president-elect “has again demonstrated his genuine commitment to bringing all Americans of goodwill together in search of common ground. I applaud his desire to be the president of every citizen.” Now, Warren, a “man of cloth” didn’t sit there and preach about the abominations of homosexuality or make a comment about the “Rev.” not really being a “Rev.” yet those that are calling themselves Christians, followers of Jesus, are up in arms.

In Jesus time, he didn’t condemn those that didn’t agree with him. On the other hand the Pharisees would lash out at anyone that offended them. That is what you see today. Those that profess to follow Jesus and take pride in calling themselves CHRISTians are the ones that are quick to lash out when they feel offended. They are quick to condemn people to hell. They are quick to make remarks that really, if analyzed, Jesus would not find impressive in the least bit.

Homosexuals have been killed, spit on, have had their items vandalized, have had their rights taken away, have suffered discrimination and continue to suffer through these types of persecutions, all by CHRISTIANS. Who would you say are the meek?

Examine yourself to see whether you are truly meek.
